Students studying at the Celal Bayar University may be exempt from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. The student may be exempted from the course if the content of the course taken from another institution is in accordance with the content of the course given at our department and if it is approved by the relevant faculty board / institute directorate.

Profile of The Programme
|

|
The aim of the Department of Archeology is to create scientists who are familiar with the basic concepts of Archeology and scientific methods of study and are aware of the cultural richness of the geography that we live in and do scientific studies by understanding that this richness is the main topic of the Archeology Science. In addition to basic theoretical knowledge, it is aimed at the education process to include practical applications and complementary concepts, to gather information as much as material remains as possible and to teach the principle of correct and objective interpretation of such information and data. In addition to having a solid knowledge, it is the chief goal of the Department of Archeology to create scientists who are able to benefit from the rapidly developing methods and technologies concerning this topic especially in recent years and who can follow and contribute to the developments in the world. In addition to scientific methods and teachings, another aim of the program is to create archeologists who have understood and will work with this vision that adapting the society to the historical and cultural values of the land we live in and the inclusion of Archeology into the daily and social life more is important.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates of the Archeology Undergraduate Program can work in universities by pursuing academic careers, also in institutions and museums affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, public institutions such as the Directorate General of Foundations, private museums, various national and/or international research projects, various units of KUDEP or the Directorate of Historical Environment in the provincial and district municipalities as well as architectural and construction companies dealing specifically with cultural heritage restoration.

Access to Further Studies

In case the applicants who have successfully completed their undergraduate education get enough points in ALES (Academic Postgraduate Education Examination) and meet the foreign language criteria of the applied institution, they may switch to thesis or non-thesis graduate programs in or outside of their own field.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

|
Each student must register at classes at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices in order to be able to take the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and a semester final exam for each course. The midterm exam (points from the evaluation mean such as homework, quizzes may also be counted as the midterm) makes up %40 of the final grade and the semester final exam makes up the remaining %60. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. There is a requirement to take at least 45 points from the semester final exam. Students who take one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are deemed to have completed that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for a student to pass a course with a grade of DC or DD, a general grade point average of at least 2.0 is required.
