History : Celal Bayar University Department of Pharmacology was established in 1995. There are two research laboratories including in vivo and in vitro systems and a cell culture laboratory. In the research laboratory, we have the equipment to conduct cardiac ischemia perfusion studies, psychopharmacological studies, isolated organ studies (heart, trachea etc.), western blot, experimental pain studies and epilepsy studies in the department.

Qualification Awarded : Master's Degree in Pharmacology is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum
Level of Qualification (Short Cycle , First Cycle , Second Cycle, Third Cycle) : Second Cycle
Specific Admission Requirements : To register to graduate programs, candidates must have a bachelor's degree and take the score of not less than 55 points about the applied program in the Academic Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES).
To be successful in the foreign language, candidates must take at least 40 points in the Public Personnel Foreign Language Proficiency Examination (YDS). Those who apply to programs for which preparatory class is required for graduate education and those who succeed in preparatory class in undergraduate education are not required.

Entrance exams for the grade programs must be at least 65 points. Passing grade is the sum of the 50% of the ALES exam, 30% of the grade license score and 20% interview. Success scores of students who do not enter the interview are not calculated.

Candidates whose achievement score is 65 or higher in the master's program are ranked according to their scores starting from the highest. Candidates in the quota receive a definitive registration for the programs they apply to.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : If a student is enrolled in a postgraduate program at another university, then the courses taken at a graduate degree in the University will be counted as the minimum course load. To do this, they must submit the approved transcript and course content to the relevant unit within one week after the registration week with a petition.

The total ECTS credit of the program is 120. A student in the graduate program must write the results of the thesis in accordance with the thesis writing rules of the relevant institute and defend his thesis verbally in front of the jury.
Profile of The Programme : The mission of the Pharmacology program is to prepare professionals that will practice their profession with the firm purpose to advance basic and applied knowledge in the field of Pharmacology , through their professional and scholarly activities contributing in solving the daily health related problems of our society which results in human benefit. We aim to provide teaching in the subject area that is broad based, intellectually coherent and multidisciplinary; that builds on skills and knowledge acquired previously within the program and is informed by a research base of international standard. The Master of Science (MSc) is a two-year degree which encompasses both coursework and research. The first year involves mainly coursework and preliminary research preparation. Students will have the opportunity to contribute to existing fields of research, or to begin to develop new areas. These research-intensive programs are complemented by courses on selective topics in Pharmacology.

Access to Further Studies : Graduates who successfully completed the Master's Degree may apply to Doctorate (third cycle) programmes in the same or in related disciplines.
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Exams consist of midterms, final and makeup exams. In addition to these, quizzes, home works and projects that are determined by the faculty in the syllabus can also be involved in the evaluation criteria. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated in the course plan by the instructor. The exams can be written, oral, written, oral or practical. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Success grade is converted to letter grade with relative evaluation. The success grade is calculated by taking the percentages of the midterm and the other activities determined by the instructor so that it does not fall below 50% of the contribution of the final exam. Letter grade limits are determined by the instructor. The student must receive at least CC letter grade in a course to be successful.

Facilities : At the department, there are a total of 4 faculty members (2 professor, 2 associate professors). Theoretical lectures are given by faculty members and applications. At the department of cardiovascular, molecular and behavioral laboratories are available in three different part to carry out molecular and behavioral studies and lessons. University Scientific Research Projects Unit laboratories supported by TUBITAK and, many studies carried out at the level of the project or thesis research is also being carried out in various departments as joint research.
