History of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences which is the first higher education institution of Manisa has its roots in Ege University Economics and Commercial Sciences Faculty, Manisa Accounting Associate’s Degree High School. Our School has started the education as Accounting Associate’s Degree High School; started to give undergraduate education in 1977-78 academic years as Finance Accounting Vocational School and then turned to Economics and Administrative Sciences Faculty in accordance with the law no. 3389 in 1987. Our department has been accepting students since 2013-2014 academic year. In our department there are 1 professor, 1, associate professor, 2 assistant professors, 4 research assistant and 3 sub-departments, which are Econometrics, Statistics, and Operations Research.

Admission to the faculty is arranged within the framework of Turkish Higher Education Council Law and decisions. Students are admitted to the faculty in accordance with the Higher Education Entrance Examination (YGS) and Undergraduate Placement Examination results given by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) in Ankara. Documents required for the registration; 1 - High school diploma or its equivalent, 2 - Student placement examination result given by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM)

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

In our university education language is Turkish. However, the departments in which there is a preparation programs, can educate partially or completely in determinated foreign language. Preparation program is optional. An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language courses and the courses that Senate approves and another courses with the proposals of the relevant boards .Students are expected to take 65 or higher in order to be exempted from the courses.

Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 in order to pass all courses on the programme successfully. (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS)

Aim of the program of econometrics is; to explain the economic theory in a mathematical manner and investigate various economic issues, and to make decisions via analyzing the proper statistical and mathematical models.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Econometrics graduates having numeric evaluation techniques and numeric thinking capability can be employed in research and development (r&), planning and budget departments of the public and private enterprises operating in various fields in particular to insurance, banking, capital market as well as State Institute of Statistics, State Planning Organization, Under Secretariat of Treasury and Central Bank. Moreover, they can also work on public personnel cadres (B-type cadres) in Public Personnel Selection Examination-3 score type.

Access to Further Studies

Upon successful completion of undergraduate degree, candidates may study graduate programs on condition that they get a sufficient grade in ALES (Examination for Postgraduate Study and Academic Staff) EA test, take a undergratuate degree which is determinated by Social Sciences Institue and have sufficient level of English language skills.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

For each courses, there will be one mid term and final examination. Except these examinations, projects and quizzes can be made by instructors. The rating for these activities will be indicated in the course schedule. Midterm has %40 and final examination has %60 weight in grade ranking. Success grade is converted to letter grade by applying the relative evaluation system. Passing grade is CC. For students who have GPA at least 2.00, DC and DD is enough to pass the courses. In order to graduate from the program, students are expected to have 2.00 GPA even though they dont have an unsuccessful course.

Facilities

The department uses a part of the classrooms in the buildings belonging to Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, also two fully-equipped computer halls along with other departments. Some of the classrooms are designed as technology classrooms and it is made possible to use smart boards and projectors. All the faculty members in the department have all the technological opportunities for sustaining their academic and scientific studies. The department has a professor, an associate professor, two assistant professors and five research assistants.
