Celal Bayar University Faculty of Business Administration was officially established by the Council of Ministers' decree published on official journal numbered 28374 on 04/08/2012. The Faculty of Business Administration consists of five departments, namely, department of business administration, department of economics and finance, department of international logistics, department of management information systems and department of tourism management.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)
|

Students who are registered to the programme can be exempted from courses which they had succeeded in their previous higher education institutions. Additionally, for Foreign Language and other courses approved by the Senate, an exemption exam is made at the beginning of every educational year.
Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stages in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Manisa Celal Bayar University is not an exception to this; however, exams of exemption are organized at the beginning of each school year for English Language and Computer Skills courses. Students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means, and believes that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. Students who achieve a passing grade (65%) from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum. Also, the recognition of the previous formal education, vertical and horizontal transitions between universities are executed according to the "Legislation on the Principals about the Transition between Associate Degrees and Bachelor's Degrees, Double Major, Lateral Major and Credit Transfer between Institutions" that is determined by Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK). If a student successfully completed a course in another institution, the department can waive that course if there is a corresponding course at Manisa Celal Bayar University and the content of that particular course is approved by the department faculty members.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

It is required for the students majoring in this programme to have 2.00 Grade Point Average out of 4.00. The minimum ECTS credits required for graduation is 240 and an internship education is to be completed in semester VIII.

Profile of The Programme

The main aim of Department of Economics and Finance is to train economist and financial experts who has the ability to make analysis and synthesis, follow any kind of economics literature easily, participate in arguments about his own and related fields consciously, and can do scientific researches on financial subjects. On the other hand, it is also aimed for students and academic staff to follow financial and social developments and find solutions and make related researches and publications. In this context, the programme aims to prepare and execute bachelorship and masters degree courses appropriate to universal criteria, to make researches and publications which can respond to the needs of the country and the region by using scientific methods and techniques, and to provide qualified staff in private and public sector. In the last semester of the programme, students will find the opportunity to make a synthesis of theoretical and practical information in their internship education process.

The graduates of Economics and Finance departments can be employed in public institutions such as the Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Customs and Trade, Under secretariat of Treasury, TÜİK (government statistics Institution), and Central Bank; as well as other various fields in private sector such as in banks, in fields like finance, industry, foreign commerce, administration, accounting, marketing, insurance, human resources.

The graduates can continue with their masters’ or PhD degrees in case of getting adequate grades and corresponding to the requirements of the institute or programme they are applying to.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

Evaluation criteria for each course is determined by the faculty member who is teaching the course and this evaluation criteria is available on the University Course Information Catalogue. The students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam in the scope of each enrolled course. In addition to these, quizzes, homeworks, presentations, projects etc. are determined by the faculty member to be involved in the evaluation criteria. At the end of the year, the grades of the students are calculated by the combination of midterm and final exam grades, in-year activities and participation in class.

In order to acquire an economic-finance bacholarship degree it is required for students to complete all the elective and obligatory lessons (totally 240 ECTS) successfully and to have 2.0 avarage grade out of 4.00

Facilities

Department consists of 3 Asistant Professors, 2 Research Assistants. The department uses a part of the classrooms in the buildings belonging to Faculty of Business Administration, also a fully-equipped computer halls along with other departments. Some of the classrooms are designed as technology classrooms and it is made possible to use smart boards and projectors. Also, research assistants have the opportunity to work in two-person rooms and each of them can benefit from the university library with computers that have Internet connection.
