Students studying at the Celal Bayar University may be exempt from certain courses within the framework of certain regulations. The student may be exempted from the course if the content of the course taken from another institution is in accordance with the content of the course given at our department and if it is approved by the relevant faculty board / institute directorate.

Geography is a science that examines the mutual relations between man and the natural environment, human activities, within the framework of the unique principles of geography. Geography, which is a broad-framed science that deals with natural environment features (Physical Geography), human (Human Geography), natural environment and human interaction, also has a perspective dominated by analysis and synthesis because it is based on the interaction of physical and human characteristics. The distribution of natural and human-made features that give a place its unique character, why, how and when these features occur, the relationship of events with other features, and their explanation with subject-specific maps are the main features of geography. Today, geographical researches have a significant contribution to our daily life. Because geography tries to develop the ability to understand human, nature, nature-human interaction, to understand the concepts within the scope of these relations, to identify and solve problems. Geography, which aims to contribute to the understanding and solution of current problems faced by humanity such as climate change and global warming, desertification, ecosystem, protection of the natural and historical environment, environmental pollution, urbanization, development or underdevelopment, globalization, is an important guide in the adventure of people to discover nature. carries.
The geography department, which consists of four departments, namely Physical Geography, Human and Economic Geography, Regional Geography and Turkey Geography, differs from other departments in that it deals with the subjects of interest in every detail and offers a model, solution or versatile planning. While the elements that make up the physical properties of the earth and landforms (geomorphology), climate (climatology), waters (terrestrial hydrography and oceanography), soil and living things (biogeography) are the main research subjects of Physical Geography; Human-oriented subjects such as population, settlement, culture, agriculture, industry and economy are the basic subjects of Human Geography.

Students who meet the necessary requirements graduate from the department with the title of "geographer". Graduated students can work as teachers in schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. In recent years, geographers who have gained the necessary competence in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which has become an important field and application tool of geography, can work as experts in both public and private institutions and organizations.

In case the applicants who have successfully completed their undergraduate education get enough points in ALES (Academic Postgraduate Education Examination) and meet the foreign language criteria of the applied institution, they may switch to thesis or non-thesis graduate programs in or outside of their own field.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading
|

|
Each student must register at classes at the beginning of the semester and must attend at least 70% of the courses and at least 80% of the practices in order to be able to take the final exam. Students are required to take at least one midterm exam and a semester final exam for each course. The midterm exam (points from the evaluation mean such as homework, quizzes may also be counted as the midterm) makes up %40 of the final grade and the semester final exam makes up the remaining %60. All exams are evaluated out of 100 points. There is a requirement to take at least 45 points from the semester final exam. Students who take one of the letter grades (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are deemed to have completed that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are conditionally successful grades. In order for a student to pass a course with a grade of DC or DD, a general grade point average of at least 2.0 is required.
