Computer Programming has initiated its formal education classes within the structure of Celal Bayar University Kırkağaç Vocational High School in 1994-1995 academic year, the first graduates were granted in 1996. In 1999-2000 academic year, evening education of Computer Programming has begun student admission. In 2002, its name changed into Computer Technology and Programming within the project which insures open admission rights to students from labor schools to vocational high schools. In 2010, within the scope of the YÖK İKMEP project, Computer Programming currently continues both formal and evening education within the structure of Kırkağaç Vocational High School.

Students enrolled in the program can be exempted from the courses they have achieved in the higher education institutions they have already studied. Also; An exemption examination is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the Foreign Language Course and the proposals of the related boards and the courses approved by the Senate.

Profile of The Programme

In recent years, the use of computer software has increased rapidly in business life and daily life correspondingly rapid growth in IT sector. Computer Programming is related to computer usage, software production (PC, network media, and internet), knowledge of basic hardware and installation of basis computer networks. This program aims to raise students who are fitted out with up-to-date information about software. The intern training were included in our program since the academic year 2016-2017. The first 3 semesters for students in the school, 4. practices and education sector complements of the semester.

With the proficiency that Computer Programming department graduates obtained; they can be employed in Computer programming sector, the firms which provide service on computer and web software, and relevant public and private institutions. Program graduates can start their own enterprise, or they can work at public and private institutions in information processing, hardware, software, communication network, maintenance and repair services fields.

Access to Further Studies

The students who were graduated from two-year Computer Programming department, have right to take Student Selection and Placement Center’s ‘"Vertical Transfer Examination" and according to results of the exam they can transfer to the following departments; Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Computer Technologies and Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer and Instructional Technology Teaching, Computer-Informatics, Information System Engineering, Information Systems and Technology, Information Technologies, Physics, Statistics, Statistics and Computer Sciences, Control Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Mathematics-Computer, Meteorology Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Computer Sciences, Software Engineering. Besides, Computer Programming graduates can enroll in Open Education Faculty’s four-year Economics – Management undergraduate programs without taking vertical transfer exam.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

There is at least one midterm exam for each course. Whether the students are successful in the courses they are taking are evaluated in two stages, one midterm and one final exam. Other than midterm exams, quizzes, projects and other activities that the instructor deems suitable can be done. The contribution of these activities to the number and grade of achievement is indicated in the course plan by the instructor. When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and term exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The student must have at least CC as a letter grade in order for a lesson to be considered successful. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.

Program gives education with 4 computer laboratories with 25 computers each, 2 technological lecture halls for 130 people, and 4 technological classes. Program students can register student clubs for various social activities such as mountaineering, musics, and chess. There are one football pitch, one open air basketball and volleyball court, and one roofed basketball and volleyball court in the school. "Vertical Transfer Examination Proficiency" courses are held for the students in the school. Within "Career Days" events, former graduates are invited and they share their job experiences with students and this contributes student's career development as an extracurricular activity.
