History : The Manisa Health High School, which is located in the Faculty of Health Sciences, was published in the Official Newspaper dated 08 April 2016 and numbered 29 678 and was closed down by the decision of the Council of Ministers and converted into Faculty of Health Sciences. Teaching as Midwifery Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences has been continuing since 2016.

Specific Admission Requirements : Candidates must obtain a score from the relevant field (MF-3) from the Undergraduate Placement Examination (LYS) conducted by The Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), indicating that their exam result has been placed. It is also essential that the student is not enrolled in another higher education institution other than the open faculty. According to the results of a central examination called Foreign Student Examination (YÖS), foreign students from a certain quota framework are accepted too.
Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal) : The recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stages in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Celal Bayar University is not an exception to this; however, exams of exemption are organized at the beginning of each school year for English Language and Computer Skills and other YOK courses. There is no foreign language preparation program at our faculty. An exemption exam is opened at the beginning of each academic year for the foreign language course and the proposals of the relevant committees and the courses approved by the Senate. Students who score 65 or more on exemption examinations are exempted from these courses. Horizontal-vertical access to students is provided within the quotas described.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : Students should fulfill 240 ECTS which has been predetermined at department programme including must and elective courses. In addition, Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) must be at least 2.00/4.00 to earn Bachelors degree for Midwifery.
Profile of The Programme : Midwifery is a program related individual-family-society. A midwife determines health needs of healthy or ill individual-family-society, research their causes, makes appropriate midwifery initiatives to mother and baby in pregnancy, birth and postpartum period (care, education, counseling etc.), evaluates results that make initiatives. She develops midwifery services based on scientific basis in protective, therapeutic and rehabilitation process.
Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples : The working field of our graduates includes birth, child and family planning units of the institutions affiliated to Ministery of Health and the private health facilities. The graduates who want to study academically can be employed as instructor at universities and they can carry on their postgraduate studies.
Access to Further Studies : Graduates, who have successfully completed undergraduate degree, providing at least minimum acceptable ALES (Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam) score and have a sufficient command on a foreign language, may apply to graduate programmes (Master's and PhD).
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Evaluation criteria for each course is determined by the faculty member who is teaching the course and this evaluation criteria is available on the University Course Information Catalogue. The students are required to take at least one midterm and one final exam in the scope of each enrolled course. In addition to these, quizzes, homeworks, presentations, projects etc. are determined by the faculty member to be involved in the evaluation criteria. At the end of the year, the grades of the students are calculated by the combination of midterm and final exam grades, in-year activities and participation in class.
When passing grade is determined, midterm exam is 40% and final exam is 60% effective. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. The note that the student gets when calculating the success grade is converted to the letter grade in the relative system. The student must receive at least CC letter grades to be successful in a course. Students with a GANO score of at least 2.00 (DC) and (DD) are considered to be successful in grades. Students who do not have a failed course, but whose GANO is below 2.00, must first take the courses (DC) and (DD) to get their GANOs above 2.00 in order to graduate.
Graduation Requirements : In order to graduate from the programme, it is required to pass all the courses in the programme (equivalent to total 240 ECTS) and to have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 over 4.00.

Facilities : Education language is Turkish in the department. Computer, technical and simulation laboratories are available for students` use. In the skills laboratories, there are two item adult models, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation model which making the heart and breathing massage, model of anatomy, skeletal, the model of episiotomy, models of bimanual examination, newborn care and treatment models, models of birth, blood pressure measuring instruments, degrees, scales, and so on. gadgets allowing basic nursing practices (Vascular access opening, making the injection, catheter and tube applications into body cavities etc.), microscope, simulation model. There is a library, gym, conference hall, coffee shop and tennis tables in the cafe midwifery students benefit. Students have the opportunity of studying at contracting universities during at most two semesters within the Erasmus and Farabi programmes and Mevlana Excahenge Programme. Presently, there are 1 associate professors, 8 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 5 research assistants at the department.
